Last night I stayed up to watch News (because it doesn't come on til 11 here) and realized that Discovery was launching and we were within 90 miles of it. It was too late to get Cinch & Daniel in the truck because they were sound asleep and people were lined up to watch everywhere. So I decided I would just stay up and hoped I could see it from the ranch.
The count down started(and I woke up Daniel) and I watched it ignite on the TV and then went outside and saw this.
Not a great picture because it was night- but this is the forest behind our house and the BRIGHT glow from blast off coming through the trees. I can't imagine what it looked like up close because it lit up the ranch here. Then out of the trees you could see Discovery rising out from behind the trees and towards orbit. After a few minutes you could see the boosters release and fall. It was probably once in a lifetime experience. So mad at myself for not knowing earlier so we could really go watch but yet- glad I wasn't asleep in bed.
Here is a video of it- not great because it is night time but I saw a rocket launch.
