The middle of September we made another whirlwind trip back to Utah for the Brigham City temple open house. I couldn't/wouldn't let anything get in our way of this trip. Even though we don't live in Utah anymore this temple is dear to us. Cinch and I were visiting from Florida when it was announced- Cinch and I were visiting again when Angel Moroni was put on, and well we just needed to visit again to see the inside.
Daniel was a good sport and was exhausted from being gone for 2 days to a Continuing Education class- then 2 days in Texas for a rodeo- 1 day at the office for a meeting and then we took off for Utah Tuesday afternoon. We picked Bill up in Cheyenne- good and bad - his Grandma passed away so he rode home for the funeral with us and also went to the open house with us.
From Cheyenne to Laramie our back window wouldn't roll up. Luckily an old intern met us in Laramie and we jimmied the window back into place for the rest of the drive.
Papa Matt came and spent the day with us. Looking back it is a precious memory that we'll hold in our hearts. The last time we were able to see him on this earth- we were all in the temple together.
Cinch was inthrolled with how beautiful the inside was and that it was the "bestest place in the world" to be. He walked into the celestial room and told us this is where we can see Grandma Kari.... Precious memories in our hearts that day for sure.
My parents just happened to be ushering that morning and the Archibald crew was also walking through as well. So we grabbed some YUMMY Maddox take out and foundered on the good food at Josie's home.
The rest of the afternoon we played in Elwood and Cinch had Papa Matt's undivided attention. We went to Bill's grandmas viewing, and then parted ways. As we said our good byes, love yous, come visit soon .. we never would of dreamed it would be the last time.
I will always be grateful we made this trip. There was more hours driving than, visiting. But to be able to have our boys see the inside of this sacred place and have it be the last memory with their Papa Matt, all the driving in the world is worth that!

We were heartbroken to hear of Matt's passing! I can't imagine the grief. You are still in our prayers and aren't you glad to have him forever?!
