Tuesday was our 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!! Unfortunately it came and went like Daniel's birthday. We had talked about it the night before but Tuesday we didn't even remember until my mom called at Lunch time and reminded us.
During Monday night Cinch started throwing up until Tuesday evening. We figure he had heat exhaustion- we had drank lots of water Monday- but it was just too hot. So our anniversary was even better dealing with a sick little boy. Well Wednesday Cinch woke up and had diarrhea all day thru Friday- that really put a pause with the potty training - but it will all work out it the end.
Wednesday part of the other employees got back and I don't think we could have been any more happy to have people back to do their jobs. We also became official residents of Nebraska, new drivers licences and truck and trailer now sport Nebraska plates.
Thursday our back luck started- Daniel and Cinch were out fixing a windmill that was broken. It started to fill up and Daniel was climbing up the windmill to look over the cows to see how much water was in it- with all the mad dash for water the cows slammed and pinned his leg against a pipe and almost broke his leg, we were blessed that it wasn't- but the swelling and bruise were nasty.
Friday night we needed to go to town for groceries and we knew it would be the only time- so we left for town at 8. About halfway through our 90 min drive it was getting dusk, I saw a deer running from the shoulder of the road and yelled deer- Daniel looked and saw 2 on his side of the road before he saw the one on my side, he swerved in time to have it hit the side and not come up over the top- I HATE DEER! I swear our vehicles our magnets for deer- it did some pretty good damage to our truck but we were all ok. It made a long miserable drive to town knowing we were just trying to get groceries.
Saturday was a busy day on the ranch moving cows, moving water, mineraling and everything else. Saturday of bad luck of 3 came, our dog Lady died. We aren't for sure how, but it doesn't really change it. It is always the good dogs that die young. She was only 7 months old but worked cows like a pro. We had gotten a new puppy the weekend before so we could have 3 working dogs, because without dogs the work doesn't get done, they earn their keep around our house. But well we are back down to 2 dogs again. Hopefully our puppy grows fast because we are out of dog power.
Saturday we also built Cinch a tire swing. We have been wanting to get him a swing set- but haven't determined if it would survive our HIGH wind here- so at least he has a swing for now.
Saturday night after all our bad luck we at least had something to look forward to, our 1st visitors. Our good friend Bill's parents were in Denver for cattlemen's meetings and decided to come for a quick visit. They had hoped to get here Saturday afternoon but their meetings ran long and didn't get here until 9. We visited til about midnight and then went to bed.
Sunday we got up and Daniel and Cinch took Tim for a tour of our pasture land and cows and I showed Laurie around the house and barns. They were only here for 12 hours but it was so nice to see someone from home. After they left we were off to church. We got there a little late but still made it. We both received our ward callings- which I'll update about after they are official.
Sunday evening we had the elders out for dinner again. We still have Elder Pape from Idaho and a new Elder Hansen from North Carolina, a greenie- in shell shock of what the middle of nowhere looks like. Because the elders were out we had the 2 intern families come up for dinner as well. We had a yummy traditional Sunday dinner, a message from the Elders and then played Temple Jeopardy- they have the BEST games! It was a busy Sunday but a great Sunday.
