Monday July 12-
Back at work again. Daniel and Cinch were nice and let me sleep in to recover from the last week- But it was very similar to the last time I came back to Utah- they got stuck, luckily it was pretty real close to the house so it wasn't too big of a walk back. I got up and helped them get unstuck. After we got done we had to flip one of our solar panels back up that the wind had tipped over. You have to use the truck to get it almost to the verge of tipping back over and then tip it all the way by hand so the solar panels don't break. While we were flipping it, I thought my legs were out of the way- but my right leg was just enough in the way that the solar trailer slid down my shin- it hurt so bad! I thought for sure it was broken, I couldn't put weight on it, I just sat down on the ground and started to cry, scream and pray that is wasn't broken!. Luckily after about 10 minutes the pain subsided that I could walk with limp. It bruised black and I had a good lump on my shin which is still there 3 weeks later- but no broken bone- my prayer was answered.
We moved cows around that day as well since they hadn't been moved since Daniel left on Wednesday.
Tuesday July 13 and Wednesday July 14,
Daniel was down on another set of our unit sorting bulls to turn out and our yearling steers into 2 groups of heavy and lights that will ship soon. Cinch & I caught up on stuff at the house- mowing the lawn, laundry, cleaning.
Thursday July 15
Daniel was up really early and moved our pairs- he got back to the house and we were ready to move our yearling heifers. It was a long move for our heifers. Luckily the dogs worked awesome that helped when the heifers got tired. We lost 4 heifers to a lightening storm, not too good. And breeding season has begun! The heifers got turned in with their bulls---
The hay crew showed up today. Luckily we are cowboys and not farmers- they pay a company to cut and bale our hay. So we only have to spend time stacking up our hay not the rest of the process. They do it different out here to cut the meadow grass. They just use a double sickle blade and lay it all down, not in windrows- Then they rake it into windrows and bale it, and put it in a 6 pack so we can use our feed wagons to move it to the stack yards.
Friday July 16
Nothing to unusual, checking cows and water, putting our mineral.
Daniel had to go to town and take a test at the library- so Cinch and I took advantage of the trip and went to cool of in the city pool! It was alot of fun. We came home so I could practice roping for the family branding coming up and had Cinch practice steering and stopping his horse.
Saturday July 17
HOT HOT HOT! Went out to check our cows and they were out of water! The wind hadn't blown during the night so they had drained their tank with the heat- so we had to go get another solar panel pump... Cinch kept the cows and calves away so the tank could start to fill up, luckily 2 hours later the cows had water and we were hot and crispy.
Sunday July 18
Journey to Church- still no callings-- Was Pot Luck but I forgot so we just headed home
