PreConditioning - Weaning

We preconditioned and weaned on Oct 11th. Our calves had stayed healthy enough that we were able to do both in one day rather than 1 day in Sept and 1 day in Oct.

Everything went pretty well. We were busy trying to finish the hot wire fence that we were putting in new. We were planning on having a whole Saturday to do it but the rain came and we couldn't complain too much. So we got a little bit done inbetween the storms but all Monday we were building a 2 mile fence as fast as we could- and we finished a little after dark.

The calves weighed good and the cows sorted off good as well.
We fence wean out here on the ranch- so they sit across a 4 wire barbwire fence and a 2 stand electric fence from eachother for 3 days and then we push the moms to a new pasture.
Soring off the mama's up top and the babes come down to get their vaccines and weighed.
Cinch showing you his "new baby calf" herd. He takes ownership in his babies maybe a little too serious for a 3 yr old.
The mamas getting counted out on their side.
His Jungle Gym- Panels, chutes, and trailers.

This is day 2 of weaning not all 850+ are on the fence, slowly they are working their way, away from each other.

Weaning went really well- much much better than last year for sure.
