"What greater thing is there for human souls than to feel that they are joined for life - to be with each other in silent unspeakable memories." --- George Eliot

Mount Rushmore

When Daniel & I started talking about what we wanted to do this summer/fall there were 2 things on the list
1- See Mount Rushmore
2- Go camping

When I found out I had Stake Primary Meetings- and that it was only 30 mins from Mt Rushmore we decided to make a weekend of it, See Rushmore, Camp, go to my meetings

So we set off Friday the 17th for Mt Rushmore. It's only a 3.5 hr drive from the house. I had never been and Daniel had when he was 11 but that was 15 years ago so really a new adventure for us all.

We entered and climbed the hill from the East and could see it from the road! If you come from the west you can't see it til your there...
It was breath taking!
It has this hall lined with all the states flags leading up to the looking point.
And there is was- Just Amazing- that people could create such a masterpiece
A picture from the museum... it really shows the size difference
We stayed outside and then went to the museum for about 20 minutes. When we came back out a storm had rolled in and you couldn't even see the mount. It was a really nice trip too because it is "off season" so not hardly any people there when we arrived 5pm.

Well the rest of the weekend didn't turn out as we had planned. It ended up raining (almost snowing) it was 40* at 7pm so instead of camping we opted to get a hotel room.

Saturday we got up and had a nice continental breakfast, and then I was off to meetings for 2 hours. After that we made a much needed Sams Club run, we hadn't been since memorial day, went to a Target and TJ Maxx! It was amazing to see real stores again!

We hope to go back to Rushmore soon and visit some of the caves, crazy horse, and other sites it has to offer.
If you haven't been to Mt Rushmore--- You HAVE to go it was just an amazing patriotic moment in time.
