Rodeo Time

Two weekends ago Daniel got invited to be on a ranch rodeo team- he gladly accepted because the team usually does awesome, they are actually going to the Western Ranch Rodeo Finals. One of their team members couldn't make it so they invited Daniel- a HUGE compliment to him to be able to be on there team.
We traveled 90 mins to the Abbott Unit to meet up with them, then got in their truck and traveled another 90 mins to Telford, Nebraska. A little ranching community.
It was a great day, minus the fact there were Sand burrs and stickers everywhere so Cinch didn't really have anywhere to play.
They had 2 events, the 1st event they had to rope and load a calf, head/heel and doctor a calf, and head and ty down a calf and it had to stay tied for 6 seconds after they were done.
The second event was sorting. There were 80 calves on one side of the white line, the announcer called out three numbers in succession (56,57,58) one team member had to ride in the herd and sort them out and the other team members had to keep the calves from going back across the line, back to the herd.

There team ended up placing 5th out of 25 teams. Pretty good, but one spot out of the money. It was frustrating because some rules were bent for a couple teams that placed higher. But overall it was a pretty good day away from the ranch. We missed our usually rodeo friends the Larsons & Reeders but got to meet some new faces and that is always good.
"Doctoring the first calf, Daniel is on the ground marking it with a pant stick and taking the heel rope off"
"Loading into the trailer, San Man (Santiago) pulling the calf to the trailer that Daniel roped"
Daniel getting ready to rope the last calf that Levi missed
Everyone jumping off their horses to tie down the last calf roped.

The start of the sorting, It was starting to get cold and dark, but we were in the Central Time zone.
Cinch SO HAPPY to have his horse back. He doesn't share his horse well. The whole arena could hear him yelling, screaming, crying hysterically because his dad had his horse and he wasn't allowed to ride.

I have seen Dan run the paint stick and so I am guessing that is why he was one spot out of the money! hee hee Glad to see you went on a vacation! love, Bon
