Visitors! YEA!!!
We were lucky enough to have my parents come to visit us out here in Nebraska and spend 6 days (2 days driving). It was a blast, for us at least! I think we wore them out, but fun to show them our house (they had never seen it because they were still in Africa when we moved) and around the ranch and what our daily life consists of. They were planning on coming a week later, but because of my dad's new church calling- they had to come a week early so we were busier with the cows than we had hoped to be.
They arrived Saturday night, while we were at the rodeo, so we didn't see them til Sunday morning. We were all up and out the door at 7:45 so I could get to my meetings. After church we had a picnic at the park, showed them our towns museum that holds alot of history from our house. And we all visited "Carhenge" our little towns famous site. Some guy put these cars together to resemble Stonehenge- it was cool but not worth getting out of the truck for.
After the nice bumpy ride home we sat and reminisced and showed them pictures of what had hapened while they were in Africa. Their visit was really the first time we've had them alone since they got home.
Some of the great activities that we did the next few days were
- Moving Solar Water Pumps
-Moving Cows (Dad stole my horse and left me the 4-wheeler, he decided he wanted to ride the real horse and was off to help Daniel push cows before I got the gate opened.)
-Digging and digging in the dirt with Grandma
-Catching Box Turtles
-Canning Peaches
-Helping me finish Cinch's curtains
-Fixing our washer & dryer from Grandma Redman's house
-Visiting Chimney Rock
-Exploring all our barns & finding new treasures for our house
-Caking Heifers
-Touring the land
-Teasing Cinch like Crazy
and so many other great things!
I wished they could have stayed for a month- but they had bigger and better things awaiting them at home. So we waved good bye to them Thursday morning. The hardest part about them leaving was Cinch asking where "Papa ohn" and "Gan ixie" were at, and looking all over the house for them for the next 3 days.
Thanks for the visit mom and dad- we LOVED it! Come back sooner than later!
