Nauvoo Visitor Center

The Nauvoo Visitor Center isn't too big- just because there are so many site to see in town but still come cool things to look at. And on fact stuck with us was that before the saints left there was 11,000+ people in Nauvoo and year later there were 1,000+. 10,000 people left- crazy.

This is an original stone off of the 1st temple.

We decided to go on the wagon ride they offered. We bundled up tight but still froze- mind you we had dropped 60* in the last 36 hours.

On the wagon ride it was a really cool experience that we got that most people don't because most tour in the summer time. When the wagon turned to go down Parley's street toward the Mississippi River the wind was howling. They told us to imagine the street lined with wagons
and then instead of 26* imagine it being -30*. The fact of how cold we were- bundled in warm blankets and thinking of the saints leaving with not as warm of clothing and their little ones--- tears came to our eyes. I was freezing and couldn't move- how could of they done it?
Looking over their shoulders and seeing the beautiful temple up on the hill

And then seeing this ahead of them- either frozen with ice chunks or frozen solid hoping it wouldn't crack.
After the wagon ride we tried to warm up in the visitor center. I thought this was a unique statue.

This picture was huge probably at least 8' long.

That is so great that you got to go and do this!! Do you remember who drove your wagon? The people we are house sitting for and our great family friends are serving there and drive the wagons. We hope you make it safe!!! Mwaah!

this should be a stop for everyone and not just in the warm summer days, although it would have been a little more comfortable with out the wind and rain in our face, we did share some of your feelings as we walked down the trail of hope. Chauncey Webb Black Smith shop is also a must for all of our families
