Back in the middle of June I was approached about doing a Ladies Ranch rodeo. I was terrified at the thought honestly. Daniel does the rodeos, I watch. We honestly had 4 other places to be the night of the rodeo- but Daniel signed me up anyways, and in hindsight it was an awesome way to leave Nebraska.
In ranch rodeo you are on a 4 person team, we had 3 different event to compete in that time.
1st was the trailer loading, we need to sort a specific steer out, rope it and load it in the trailer. Well, we were the first team out of anyone to go and our nerves got to us and we no timed. A rocky start to the night but it got lots better.
2nd event had 2 parts. 1st steer- head and heel it, then the other 2 members tie it down, and it has to stay tied for 6 seconds.
2nd steer- head and heel, move head rope to front feet and doctor it.
This event ended up being awesome. I heeled the first steer on my first loop. Then the second steer I roped on my second try. My adrenaline was pumping and it was so much fun.
3rd even was the branding. 1 team member goes in the calves, heels a specific number calf, drags it out, 2 team members flank it and hold it down, 4th team member runs and brands it. We did amazing in this event. We won it in the women's side and were in the top 5 overall.
That night we came away 2nd place. Only 5 seconds out of first place. But it was still a great win, for the first ever Rex Ranch Ladies team
Brandi Bailey, Chelsea Altena, and Tayler Teichert were on our team.
