We left the house at 5 am to get to the Alliance Hospital in time. A ENT doctor from Rapid City comes down once a month to do the surgeries.
Cinch wasn't too nervous until they put on his gown. I was able to walk him to the OR doors but then he was on his own. He was in the OR about 45-60 minutes and then when he was awake enough to ask for me, he brought him back.
Within about 10 minutes he wanted water and juice and Popsicle. They thought he'd throw it up because it was too soon, but he kept everything down. We checked out of the hospital at 9:30 and headed to get his prescription.
While it was getting filled we loaded up on ice cream, juice, Popsicle and his request- doughnuts. By the time we made it home he had eaten 2 doughnuts and drank 2 juice boxes. He was his normal self until 5pm with the iv meds wore off. For the next 6 days it was pain meds every 4 hrs even through the night.
Luckily because of the Easter break he didn't miss too many days of school - and went back Thursday and Friday half days.
2 weeks post surgery we've noticed such a great change. You can't hear him sleeping, no snoring at all. He actually sleeps peacefully. And his speech is coming along great.
