We've been calving 842 head of first calf heifers (1st time mama's) this year. It's been quite the adventures. Luckily our assist rate has been pretty low this year. We've had 2 interns and no vet students which has been awesome not cooking 3 meals a day for 12 people. Chauncey and I have loved the day's we've been able to be a horse back.
Cinch has been out after school til dark- and now school is done- up every morning early with Daniel.

Moving the Calving facility.
We calve out in the pasture and move the heavy's/pregnants every 3-4 days. When the cows move so does the calving facility. The head catch, panel wagons, calving box and all.
A tired Daddy. For 3 weeks solid Daniel would be up at 3:30 am and come in around 9:30 pm. We're down under 70 head so things are starting to wind down which is helping him get more sleep at night.
Our c-section date night.
Our 2nd c-section. The calf did not form right inside the mom. The stomach had not sealed or the legs grown normal. Cinch was quite intrigued and moved all the body parts around while trying to figure out what was wrong.
