My yard has officially been dug up three different times since this spring. It started with the initial problems of the basement flooding right after our interns moved in. They dug up part of the septic line, but the ground was too wet to put a whole new line in, so they patched parts of it.
About a month later, more flooding, more digging- still too wet for a whole new line, since our house is surrounded by a sub-irrigated meadow.
Then about 2 weeks after our interns moved out, I was down doing laundry and the basement stunk like sewer. I was afraid to walk into the basement apt bathroom- but luckily it hadn't flooded all the way yet, just getting ready too.
So finally, for the the 3rd time, they came and dug up the yard and replaced the septic line for the basement apt. Now hopefully, crossing our fingers, it is all fixed and maybe next year I can have a full grassy yard.
